Ahsoka actress Rosario Dawson took to Instagram this evening and seemed to confirm rumours that Mena Massoud (Aladdin) and Lars Mikkelsen (The Witcher) have been cast as live-action Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Dawson shared a fans post who were expressing their excitement over the rumoured casting on their Instagram story which Dawson decided to share on her own as you can see below, but Dawson has since removed the image from her Instagram story.

Mena Massoud was first rumoured to be cast as Ezra Bridger back in February when Kessel Run Transmissions first reported the news. Massoud himself back in March shared an Instagram post with the caption “Hey, just so you know, when I escape I won’t hurt any of you” which is a line by Bridger from Star Wars: Rebels. Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Thrawn in Rebels, was first reported to be playing Grand Admiral Thrawn in live-action by Small Screen UK. Rumours have consistently followed these two actors around and was brought up again recently by LRM Online who claimed both actors were still attached to the roles.

This situation reminds me of what Jamie Foxx did last year when it was reported he’d be reprising the role of Electro for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Foxx took to Instagram confirming the rumour believing it had been officially announced and even showed fan art of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland’s Spider Men facing off against Electro. Foxx later deleted the post and has denied involvement.

The casting is likely for Ahsoka’s live-action series and not for the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian. Ahsoka’s appearance in The Mandalorian season two set up Ahsoka’s series as it was revealed she was hunting down Grand Admiral Thrawn following the events of the Rebels finale when Ezra used the Purrgil to transport himself and Thrawn to an unknown part of the Galaxy via hyper space.

Ahsoka’s live-action series for Disney+ was announced in December and currently does not have a release date.
