Today theronin.org are reporting that Extraction director Sam Hargrave is directing at least one episode of the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett series for Disney+ and are also keen to mention he could be handling some second unit duties.

Hargrave is not a newcomer to the Star Wars universe as he previously handled second unit directing duties on several episodes of The Mandalorian season two. Hargrave eventually getting a chance to direct episodes of Star Wars TV feels like a natural progression in my opinion.

Hargrave has previously worked as a stunt coordinator on many high profile films such as Avengers: Endgame, Deadpool 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Atomic Blonde, The Accountant, Captain America: Civil War and Captain America: The Winter Soldier to name a small handful which led to Jon Favreau personally asking Hargrave to come aboard for the second season of The Mandalorian.

Earlier this month Boba Fett himself, Temura Morrison announced that show-runner Robert Rodriguez would be directing multiple episodes of the series with Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Bryce Dallas Howard directing at least one episode each. Back in June we exclusively reported on our podcast (the latest episode of which you can find at the bottom of the page) that Bryce Dallas Howard was directing at least one episode of The Book of Boba Fett. Its quite odd how Morrison failed to mention Sam Hargrave when listing the directors of the upcoming series, but I for one am personally hoping it was a mistake on Morrison’s behalf as I’d love to see Hargrave tackle an episode.

It has also been reported by American Cinematographer that Dean Cundey has worked as a cinematographer on multiple episodes of The Book of Boba Fett. Cundey has worked on classics such as Halloween (1978), Escape From New York, Back to the Future, The Thing, Jurassic Park, Big Trouble in Little China, Romancing the Stone, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Apollo 13. Below you can see some trailers of Cundey’s work and personally this really excites me and I cannot wait to see The Book of Boba Fett on our screens this December.
