According to Cinelinx and Big Screen Leaks, an animated series focusing on Darth Maul and Crimson Dawn is in active development and could be announced in just a couple of weeks.

Cinelinx put out an exclusive report today saying they’ve heard an animated series focusing on Darth Maul was in development and that Dee Bradley Baker, Matt Lanter and Sam Witwer were involved in the series. Cinelinx spoke to two independent sources who told them the series will focus on Maul with one mentioning Crimson Dawn. Cinelinx also added that they previously had heard Paul Bettany (WandaVision, Solo: A Star Wars Story) wanted to return to the role of Dryden Vos at some point.

Big Screen Leaks followed up on the Cinelinx report and added that they heard the animated series is actually titled Crimson Dawn and as the name suggests, focuses on Crimson Dawn which Maul leads between the events of Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. BSL also mentioned that they’d heard an announcement will be made on Disney+ Day (November 12th) in regards to the series.

To be transparent, I spoke with both Cinelinx and Big Screen Leaks ahead of their reports and mentioned to both that I’d heard similar things. I personally didn’t have enough confirmation or information on my end to run any story, but both Big Screen Leaks and Cinelinx did.

Personally I’m jazzed at this idea. I’ve wanted a Crimson Dawn series since Solo and found that story to be far more interesting as series rather than a sequel to the underperforming film. Hopefully the events of this animated series can also tell the story of Qi’ra following the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story.
