According to a report by Production Weekly, The Acolyte, is set to begin filming in May.
Over the summer it was reported by DiscussingFilm that Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte was set to begin filming in February. Just a number of weeks back LRM Online reported that it was no longer the case and earlier this week claimed the series would actually begin filming in May. In the latest issue of Production Weekly dated November 11th, when the issue was made available, they report that The Acolyte will is currently set to begin filming sometime in May of next year.
Little is known regarding Headland’s series outside of it starting at the tail end of the High Republic era and would focus on the emergence of the darkside. Headland began recruiting her writers room earlier this year and is developing the series with Rayne Roberts, who produced the relatively unknown projects It’s Snowing Outside and The Fair Trade alongside the animated film Strange Magic starring Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) and Maya Rudolph (The Good Place). Roberts also worked on various Star Wars projects in different roles, acting as a development executive on The Rise of Skywalker, a creative executive on Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Last Jedi and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as well as being a part of the Lucasfilm story group working on Star Wars: Rebels.
Leslye Headland herself is showrunning The Acolyte as well as being it’s creator and one of several producers. Headland is best known for creating the series Russian Doll alongside Natasha Lyonne (American Pie). Headland also wrote and directed the films Sleeping with Other People starring Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso) and Alison Brie (Community), About Last Night starring Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) and Bachelorette starring Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man), James Marsden (Sonic The Hedgehog) and Isla Fisher (Now You See Me).
