Just mere days after speculating that a female character riding a blue vesper type vehicle was actress Sophie Thatcher, the latest Fett teaser confirms the speculation.
In the teaser released a couple of weeks back titled The Return, we got a glimpse of a female member of a street gang chasing after a speeder in Mos Eisley on a blue vesper like vehicle. I quickly assumed that perhaps this was Sophie Thatcher, who was rumoured to have joined the cast around a year ago as a member of a “street crew”. The casting call specifically asked for a British female (Thatcher is), aged between 18-24 (Thatcher is 21) to play the character of Drash. The personality of Drash was described as cool, self-assured, a defier of authority and in need of refinement.
Though the casting of Thatcher was never confirmed, I noticed that the actress had dyed her hair to a dark colour from her usual blonde and it appeared similar to what we saw on the unknown character in The Return teaser. Thatcher had dyed her hair in October 2020, one month ahead of filming on Fett, and returned to her blonde look in April, two months before Fett officially wrapped. Perhaps this is also an insight as to how much we can expect to see Thatcher appear in the series? Maybe. Maybe not.
Thatcher’s rumoured casting last year came hand-in-hand with another member of the street crew codenamed Skad. At the time the actor attached to role was Jordan Bolger, who is best known for starring in The CW’s The 100, BBC’s Peaky Blinders and most recently starred in the Tom & Jerry movie. We got a glimpse of an actor in the same street crew as Thatcher last week in the teaser Authority which bared a resemblance to Bolger.
Thatcher is best known for starring in the hit series, Yellowjackets, which is currently airing on Showtime and other notable work of her’s includes starring in The Exorcist TV series and the film Prospect alongside Din Djarin himself, Pedro Pascal.
It’s nice to finally get confirmation of another cast member in The Book of Boba Fett as we previously only knew of Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett, Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand, Robert Rodriguez as the voice of the mayor and Jennifer Beales as a Twi’lek.
