In the latest issue of Production Weekly a mystery Star Wars project with the working title Grammar Rodeo has been revealed to film in June.
Production Weekly added no additional details outside of the working title and the month the project is set to film. I was told a number of weeks back by my sources that there is an unannounced project on the calendar, but I wasn’t told when the project would film, what it was about, or who was attached. The only things I was told is that a familiar name was attached, they don’t believe it to be set during The Mandalorian timeline and that the shoot will take place at Manhattan Beach Studios in a few months and would run until December.
I rounded off multiple possibilities to my sources including The Acolyte, Lando and other announced projects, along with other rumoured projects including the Saw Gerrera and Partisans series, and was met with a resounding no to all.
I don’t know if this mystery project is the same one that Cinelinx recently reported on, with their sources calling it “Stranger Things in Space”. Cinelinx went on to add that the series they’ve heard of is set during the High Republic era with the cast being teenagers or pre-teen and that a member of Luminous Team was onboard to help with the story.
Murphy’s Multiverse added that they’ve been told that an unknown Star Wars series is currently looking to cast a young female between the ages of 10 to 12. I can attest to this as I was informed of the casting call a couple of weeks ago, but I did not know what project it was for as a codename wasn’t attached to what I had seen.
It’s also worth noting that the codename Grammar Rodeo could be a reference to The Simpsons. In the episode titled Bart on the Road, Bart and some of the other children trick their parents into letting them take a trip, with the kids telling the parents that they’re going to the ‘National Grammar Rodeo’. This fits with Lucasfilm looking to cast some children aged between 10-12 years old, and Cinelinx reporting that the show was described to them as “Stranger Things in Space”.
Hopefully we get new information on this mystery series soon, and with filming reportedly taking place in June, new information should come to light soon.
