The highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series is just under three months away from debuting on Disney+, and it appears some artwork for tie-in merchandise has been revealed on Good Morning America.

During the segment GMA revealed merchandise for exciting upcoming Disney films including Lightyear that releases in June, and Thor: Love and Thunder releasing in July, but the most interesting to us Star Wars fans was when the host showed off customisable lightsabers for Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. The host did not mention the Obi-Wan Kenobi series by name, but did say fans could purchase “the Darth Vader or brand new Obi-Wan Kenobi”, but when you zoom in on the artwork featuring on the Kenobi lightsaber, you’ll notice that Obi-Wan’s outfit in the promotional art matches that of the recently revealed series poster and not his past looks.

However Darth Vader’s lightsaber was reportedly released a couple of months back, and the promotional art is likely not in-line with Vader’s appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Darth Vader’s look is more in-line with his appearances in Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes Back, and not that of Rogue One, Rebels, or A New Hope.

Star Wars fans should keep expectations low for tie-in merchandise for the series, as typically very limited or no figures are released ahead of a Disney+ series, with figures for most characters arriving many months later.

Also to those fans hounding me since the poster reveal about a Kenobi trailer, I personally would not expect one until sometime in March or at the absolute latest in very early April. This is in-line with recent Disney+ marketing for their tentpole live-action series including The Book of Boba Fett which debuted a trailer on November 1st, ahead of the season premiere on December 29th, Hawkeye which debuted a trailer in September with the first episode releasing in November, and most recently Moon Knight which released its initial trailer in January ahead of its March premiere. There are additional examples, but I chose the three most recent releases.
