Though filming on Andor wrapped in late August (which I exclusively broke), we have a new casting update via The Daily Record that reveals veteran Scottish actor, David Hayman, has been cast in the upcoming Rogue One spin-off.

According to The Daily Record, Hayman was spotted on set by fans in Scotland many months ago, and during a recent interview with the actor, the outlet asked about his involvement. Hayman said, “Everything was supposed to be top secret. About 500 film crew descended on Oban, and nobody was supposed to know what was happening. But folk were coming up to me and asking if I was doing my Wonders of Scotland programme or Star Wars. Everybody knew what was happening there.”

Though David Hayman does not go into detail regarding the character he plays, or the series as a whole, The Daily Record does make mention that the role Hayman plays is a “key” role in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spin-off.

David Hayman is a very well known actor in the United Kingdom and has starred in many well known series that’s aired in the U.K. including Hatton Garden, and Taboo. Hayman recently started in the HBO Max series Landscapers last year.

Hayman was part of a shoot that took place in Scotland at Cruachan Dam, which featured anti-battery weapons similar to what was seen in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, and a the River Tilt which Shoretroopers, previously seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Andor is set to release in Disney’s Q4 2022, which runs from July to the start of October. Last year, ahead of Disney officially revealing the release window, I mentioned exclusively on my podcast, BOB The Podcast, that I was told the series would release in either August or September this year.
