Moff Gideon himself, Giancarlo Esposito, has seemingly revealed the release window for the highly anticipated third season of The Mandalorian.

Esposito is currently on a press run to promote the upcoming sixth season of Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul, and during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Giancarlo Esposito was asked by the host when he and his children could expect to see the third season of The Mandalorian, to which Esposito quickly responded saying, “You’ll get it soon. I’ve got a little few things to do in regard to that, to put some finishing touches on what I do. I believe it’ll be sometime this Summer, no date set yet, but coming soon.”

The Mandalorian’s third season recently wrapped up a few weeks ago, so a Summer release seems very surprising. Personally I don’t expect to see the season release until later in the year given the amount of time needed for post production, and that Disney previously said that Andor, which wrapped in August, would release between the start of July and end of September this year. The Mandalorian has typically released eleven to thirteen months after filming on the season begun, so if Disney and Lucasfilm follow this trajectory once again, a Fall release for The Mandalorian seems more likely. I’d always personally heard a late 2022 release window for Mando, and since August last year I’ve been exclusively reporting that I’d been told Andor was looking at an August 2022 release – however it’s possible Andor moves up slightly as Disney moved Ms. Marvel up by a month and both Andor and Ms. Marvel were due to release within the same Disney fiscal quarter (July-October).

Lucasfilm recently announced The Mandalorian season three would be part of its Coming Soon panel at Star Wars Celebration on May 26th alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor. It’s also been announced that a Mandalorian focused panel, Mando+, will take place at the event on May 28th. I’d fully expect to hear an update regarding the release window for the third season during Celebration.
