Lucasfilm and Disney have officially released the teaser trailer for the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spin-off series, Andor. The teaser trailer first debuted at the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel taking place at Star Wars Celebration before arriving online mere minutes later.
The release of the teaser trailer confirms my exclusive previous report that Andor will debut a trailer of sorts at Celebration, but at the time I did not know if the trailer would be released publicly or just shown to those in the room as was the case in 2019 with The Mandalorian trailer, but thankfully Lucasfilm shared the exciting teaser publicly. Alongside the teaser, Lucasfilm also released the poster for the series, with both revealing the release date of August 31st and once again confirming what I’ve been reporting since last Summer – Andor will release in August 2022.

During the panel, showrunenr of Andor, Tony Gilroy revealed that the first season takes place over the course of one year and begins five years before the events of Rogue One. Not much additional plot information was revealed, but the filmmakers did reveal that Stellan Skarsgård’s character is named Luthan Rail and he’s set to play an important role and a Rebel leader in the series.
The filmmakers went on to confirm that the second season of Andor is already in pre-production and that filming will begin in November, and it’s seemingly the final season of the series. Gilroy revealed that the second season will consist of twelve episodes, just like the first, but the events of the second season will take place over the course of four years and will bring us into the events of Rofue One: A Star Wars Story.
