During the latest episode of GamesBeat Decides, journalist and insider, Jeff Grubb, stated that despite ongoing rumours and speciation, Cal Kestis will still be the lead protagonist in the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, Jedi: Survivor. Grubb said the following, “He is, Cal Kestis is still the star of that game [Jedi: Survivor]. He is the main character, but I suppose that doesn’t mean there aren’t other playable characters…I’m not saying there are either, I don’t know, but what I was told is Cal Kestis is the main protagonist still.”
Grubb’s comments have echoed what I’ve said over the years on various podcasts, that Kestis is the lead of the sequel to Fallen Order. Back in January 2020 when I was first told anything on the sequel, Cal was planned to be the main character. However in recent months I’d heard conflicting things, namely that Cal is still the lead, and that there’s a new playable character. I took these as merely rumours and not something to report on, especially given the fairly decent demand from fans to have Merrin be the lead in Jedi: Survivor.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is reportedly releasing in either February or March next year, and will only be available on PC and current generation consoles – Playstation 5 and XBox Series X|S. Jedi: Survivor is rumoured to make an appearance of some kind at Star Wars Celebration which runs from May 26th until the 29th, though no dedicated panel for the title will be present at the event.
