Over the course of the last couple of months I’ve been trying to get some new information on the upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte. The series was initially believed to be in pre-production at Pinewood Studios last year and was due to begin filming in May, but production on the series was delayed from May until October.
Since then I’ve been talking to various sources and keeping my ear to the ground regarding the production, and over the course of the past month or so I’ve heard from various sources that The Acolyte is in pre-production in Reading, England. Upon further digging I found out where the production was located, and I can exclusively report that The Acolyte is in pre-production and will film at the newly constructed, Shinfield Studios. Shinfield Studios currently has four operational sound stages and will have eighteen by 2024, and it had previously been confirmed that Disney would be a client on the new studio. It’s unclear at the moment if Shinfield houses a volume, which is something I’ve been trying to get confirmation on.
Unfortunately I have no additional details to share on The Acolyte’s production at Shinfield Studios at this time, but I hope to bring you more information soon. The Acolyte is due to begin filming this November with principal photography set to run until May. The series was created by Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) with Amandla Stenberg (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies) rumoured to have been cast in the lead role. Additional writers and actors on the series have yet to be confirmed, but I have heard rumblings recently of a possible director attached.
