Though official news from Disney and Lucasfilm was pretty light, we got updates on casting for The Acolyte, and today we get an update on casting for the upcoming Ahsoka series.

Today Cinelinx are reporting that Eman Esfandi has been cast as Ezra Bridger in the upcoming live-action series. Social media has been rife with speculation as to who would playing Bridger for the past two years, with many fan casting Mena Massoud (Aladdin) in the role. However in more recent months the thought has been that Lucasfilm were looking to cast a more unknown actor in the role.

Eman Esfandi isn’t a well known name, but did most recently appear in Will Smith’s King Richard in a small role. Esfandi has mostly appeared in shorts, and the films he has appeared in aren’t very well known such as Red 11, Phaedra and Austin Weird. I’m only familiar with King Richard, but don’t recall his performance but he looks like he fits the bill with his good looks.

If the casting report is true then Esfandi joins a cast of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren (The Voyeurs, Day Shift), Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Birds of Prey, Fargo), Ivanna Sakhno (The Spy Who Dumped Me, Pacific Rim: Uprising) and Ray Stevenson (Vikings, RRR).

Tomorrow Lucasfilm have a panel at the D23 Expo, hopefully we’ll get some exciting updates on Star Wars projects, and who knows…we may even get this piece of casting confirmed.
