Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm’s D23 panel takes place tomorrow, and today Puck News has started sharing some tidbits they’ve heard about what will be announced and what not to expect. According to the outlet, no new Star Wars movie will be announced at the event.

Fans have speculated that an update on the Star Wars film slate could happen at D23 as Kennedy back in May told Vanity Fair that Lucasfilm were in discussions with filmmakers, with hopes of making those announcements in a couple of months. At the time fans thought perhaps said announcements could occur at Star Wars Celebration, but once the event came and went, attention turned to D23, but if the report by Puck News is to be believed then we shouldn’t expect a new Star Wars film to be announced.

Currently Lucasfilm have Rogue Squadron still slated for a December 2023 release for some reason despite Kathleen Kennedy previously confirming that the untitled Star Wars film from Taika Waititi (Thor: Love and Thunder, Jojo Rabbit) would be the next film to release with rumours indicating the project won’t film until sometime next year. We also have the untitled film being produced by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige which is being written by Michael Waldron (Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). These are the only Star Wars films announced by Lucasfilm that are in active development as recently Rian Johnson (The Last Jedi) and Kathleen Kennedy both claimed Johnson’s trilogy is a long way off due to Johnson’s hectic schedule.

There’s been little to no discussion on any Star Wars films outside of those announced by Lucasfilm. However one previous rumour claimed that Damon Lindelof (Prometheus, Tomorrowland) was writing a Star Wars movie, but word around that project has been quiet. If it’s true that Lindelof is working on a Star Wars film and this report from Puck News is to be believed then we shouldn’t expect that announcement anytime soon.

Disney+ Day turned out to be pretty disappointing for some fans as unlike last year Disney did not spend the day giving updates and announcing new projects. Some Star Wars fans had hoped Disney+ Day may finally give The Bad Batch season two a concrete release date, but it was not to be. Lates today the Disney and Marvel Games showcase takes place, and though some fans are already getting overly excited about the event with them expecting every Star Wars game announced to get an update, I’m personally keeping my expectations very low as I’ve heard mixed things.
