Hello there! Before we continue with the article I kindly ask you to consider showing your support and appreciation for my work by tipping me via my Ko-Fi page here. Tips are quite rare around these parts, but I assure you no matter how big or small, each tip is deeply appreciated. Now, let’s get on with the news!

Over the past few days there’s been pandemonium within the DC fanbase following an article released by The Hollywood Reporter which claimed Patty Jenkins’ third Wonder Woman instalment had been scrapped and the project was considered dead. Since then there’s been various stories from the trades and other outlets reporting what they’ve heard regarding the Jenkins and Warner Bros. Discovery situation. I won’t be going into the weeds of that here, but when a director, writer or actor is attached to Star Wars, that franchise always gets brought up.

During the latest episode of The Hot Mic podcast, hosted by John Rocha and Jeff Sneider, the topic of Jenkins and Warner Bros. arose. You may recall that Sneider was the first to report that Damon Lindelof was onboard to write a Star Wars movie way back in the spring, months before it was reported by the trades and has since had several reports since turn out accurate. When discussing the current situation between Jenkins and WB, Sneider said the following;

I’ve heard some things about Patty Jenkins…I heard she’s a fucking nightmare. I get it, I hate to be the guy calling a woman a nightmare, but my God, I’ve said that about countless male directors. So like, I’ve heard that the Wonder Woman [3] script she turned in was a mess, I heard the Star Wars thing [Rogue Squadron] was a mess, like what do you want from me?” – Jeff Sneider via The Hot Mic

Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron was reportedly delayed indefinitely due to scheduling conflicts as the Wonder Woman 1984 director moved on to work on the third Wonder Woman film which was supposedly pushed up in release, with the movie expected to release sometime in 2024. Rogue Squadron was due to release in December 2023, and was removed from Lucasfilm and Disney release schedule officially earlier this year.

The next Star Wars film is slated to release in December 2025. Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, previously stated that the next film slated to release will come from Taika Waititi (Thor: Love and Thunder) and Krysty Wilson-Cairns (The Good Nurse). However since Kennedy’s comments, there’s been growing momentum surrounding the film being written by Damon Lindelof (Watchmen) with Sneider previously saying he believes the Lindelof film will take the 2025 date.
