Hello there! Before we continue with the article I kindly ask you to consider showing your support and appreciation for my work by tipping me via my Ko-Fi page here. Tips are quite rare around these parts, but I assure you no matter how big or small, each tip is deeply appreciated. Now, let’s get on with the news!

This evening Jon Favreau attended a screening of The Mandalorian season two finale held by Empire Magazine. In addition to showing the season two finale, Favreau sat down for a brief Q&A, of which we got some interesting answers from the creator of The Mandalorian.

Though many quotes cannot be found online at this time, we’ll have to take the word of a Twitter user who attended the event, Seif Zaki. Zaki shared that The Mandalorian creator reaffirmed that the fourth season of the series had already been written, something Favreau revealed mere days ago, but this time he revealed that the fourth season is already in pre-production as shared that he was currently in the process at art created by Doug Chiang for the season four. The news arrives days after MakingStarWars.net reported that The Mandalorian season four is already in pre-production and that the series was aiming to start filming this coming October.

In addition to discussing The Mandalorian, Favreau also briefly spoke about two series he’s executive producing alongside his writing partner, Dave Filoni. Favreau confirmed that both series he’s executive producing, Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew are still in post-production, which isn’t much of a surprise given Ahsoka only wrapped in November, and Skeleton Crew last month. Favreau revealed that both Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew would take place during the same time period. However as we don’t have a direct quote from Favreau, we can only go off the tweet provided by Zaki, and it’s unclear if Favreau is just referring to the broad time in which the ‘MandoVerse’ takes place, or if Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew take place at the same time – running concurrently.

The most interesting tidbit from Jon Favreau came when he was discussing Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew as he revealed that the series may have character crossovers. Once again, we’re only going off of a single tweet by an attendee of the Empire event so we have no additional context for this tidbit, but if true then I find this quite exciting. In a past report form MakingStarWars, it was mentioned that Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew take place in either a new part of the galaxy we’ve previously not seen on screen before, or a new galaxy as a whole where the force is viewed differently. Within the report it was mentioned that Ahsoka Tano could appear in Skeleton Crew, so instantly my mind goes there, or it could be supporting characters found at locations in which the series share. Though Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew appear to have some sort of fun crossover, Favreau did say that both were written as stories that could be viewed individually, but watching both series, along with The Mandalorian, would deepen your appreciation for all series involved.

Jon Favreau is currently on a promotional run for The Mandalorian season three which debuts exclusively on Disney+ March 1st, so hopefully we get some exciting updates from the series creator in the weeks to come.
