Today MakingStarWars.net is reporting that Geeta Vasant Patel, the director of the The Lord of Tides, the eighth episode of Game of Thrones spin-off series, House of the Dragon, has directed an episode of the upcoming live-action Ahsoka series which is slated to be released on Disney+ later this year.

The outlet didn’t have many details regarding Patel’s episode, but did mention that just as episode eight of House of the Dragon featured a time-jump, Ahsoka too will have a time jump in either the fourth or fifth episode, with one of those episodes picking up from the final scene in the animated series, Star Wars: Rebels, which features Sabine Wren staring at a mural of the Ghost Crew she painted as she prepares to venture off with Ahsoka Tano to track down their lost friend, Ezra Bridger.

As set up in the series finale of Rebels, along with the fifth episode of The Mandalorian season two, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) is on a quest to track down Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) and Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) following the events of Rebels where Bridger and Thrawn were transported to an unknown location through hyperspace courtesy of the Purgill. Throughout the Ahsoka series, the titular character along with Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) will attempt to find their beloved friend along with the sinister Thrawn. It’s been rumoured that some of the Ahsoka series will take place in a completely new galaxy, or part of the galaxy we know, but have never seen on screen before, and that is where both Thrawn and Ezra have been residing following the series finale of Star Wars: Rebels.

Geeta Patel is probably best known for directing the eighth episode of the hit HBO series, House of the Dragon, and in addition has a lot of television work under her belt with projects that include various comedies such as Superstore, Fresh off the Boat, and The Mick, along with popular Netflix series such as Dead to Me and Santa Clair Diet. Patel joins Dave Filoni, who is also the showrunner of the series, and Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) as directors on Ahsoka, which will release later this year and is expected to have a large presence at Star Wars Celebration which kicks off on April 7th.
