Hello there! Before we continue with the Ahsoka news, I kindly ask you to consider showing your support and appreciation for my work by tipping me via my Ko-Fi page here. Tips are quite rare around these parts, but I assure you no matter how big or small, each tip is deeply appreciated. Now, let’s get on with the Ahsoka news!

In recent weeks and months we’ve been learning who the directors of photography will be on upcoming Star Wars series that have recently wrapped production, or are currently in production. Just last week we learned that David Klein (The Book of Boba Fett) and Sean Porter (Green Book) will helm upcoming Mandalorian spin-off, Skeleton Crew, and a before that we discovered that Chris Teague (Only Murders in the Building) and James Friend (All Quiet on the Western Front) will act as the cinematographers for The Acolyte. However one series we’d yet to learn the cinematographers of was Ahsoka, that was until now.

It’s been revealed by Otto Nemenz that Eric Steelberg is on board as one of two cinematographers attached to the project. Steelberg is probably best known for being the cinematographer on well known films such as Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Dwayne Johnson led Baywatch, Juno and 500 Days of Summer which starred Zooey Deschanel. Steelberg also has a bevy of cinematographer credits for television work too including Eastbound and Down, Billions, and previously worked with Disney for Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye series.

500 Days of Summer

As mentioned, Steelberg is one of two directors of photography on the Ahsoka series, with the other being Quyen Tran. Tran’s film work isn’t quite as well known as Steelberg’s, with her most popular movie work being the critically acclaimed, Andy Samberg led, Palm Springs, with other past work including Life in a Year starring Cara Delevingne and The Little Hours starring Aubrey Plaza and Alison Brie. Tran is probably best known for her TV work which includes two mini-series, A Teacher starring Kate Mara and Maid with Margret Qualley, along with Minx starring Jake Johnson.

Palm Springs

The Ahsoka series is set to release this Fall according to series lead Rosario Dawson and I’d expect a trailer to be released next month at Star Wars Celebration.
