Since the release of the last trailer for The Mandalorian season three, fans have speculated that Genevieve O’Riley’s Mon Mothma may make an appearance in the hit Disney plus series. Speculation started due to a scene where Carson Teva is seen discussing a looming threat to a character off screen. For months, myself and MakingStarWars had heard whispers of a Mothma appearance with O’Riley reprising the role, but nothing concrete. Now, MakingStarWars is confidently reporting that Mon Mothma will appear in the third season of The Mandalorian, but also the upcoming Ahsoka series.

The outlet doesn’t provide any details regarding Mothma’s appearance in Mando, but MSW has only become more confident in their report since posting the article towards the tail end of last week, as MSW told me that even more sources came forward to corroborate the report. Though they did not have details on The Mandalorian appearance O’Riley is set to have, they did reveal that the first four episodes of the Ahsoka series will focus on the New Republic, which is more than likely when Mon Mothma will appear in that series, as from the fourth or fifth episode onwards, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) would have set off on their quest to locate their friend Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) and the sinister Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).

Genevieve O’Riley’s performance in Andor was stellar to say the least. Mothma had a gripping story with the script and the actress adding layers and depth to the character we’ve known for decades. Given Mothma and O’Riley’s role in Andor, I’m more than excited to see the character on the small screen once again in both The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and of course, Andor’s second and final season. However, the writing and the directing of The Mandalorian is vastly different to that of Andor and takes place decades after the events of Rogue One spin-off, so I’m interested in seeing how the character of Mon Mothma has evolved and how O’Riley portrays the character in the Favreau-Filoni universe.

The Mandalorian’s third season is currently airing on Disney+, but there’s no release date for Ahsoka, but the series is set to release this year. Ahsoka’s leading lady, Rosario Dawson, previously revealed that Ahsoka would “probably” arrive this Fall. It’s unknown if Disney are going to attempt to keep live-action series from Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm from overlapping and premiering at similar times, and if they are, then it likely reinforces Dawson’s Fall comment as Marvel’s next series, Secret Invasion, is reportedly releasing this June, and star of Loki, Owen Wilson, revealed that season two of Loki will release in either late Summer (August) or early September. The comments from Wilson echo what I had heard regarding the Loki release date months ago.

Ahsoka is set to have a prominent presence at this years Star Wars Celebration, which kicks off on April 7th. Ahsoka will be present at the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase on April 7th, and will have her own panel slated for April 8th. Back in February I reported that Ahsoka would have a trailer release during the event, which now all but seems inevitable.
