After months of speculation, Epic Games and Fortnite have revealed one of their upcoming Star Wars skins due to be released next week. Just a couple of months ago, Fortnite dataminers discovered that two brand new Star Wars skins were slated to arrive in the latest season of Fortnite, chapter four season two, but unfortunately, who those characters were remained a mystery.

One of the theories fans developed as to who one of the skins may well be was Anakin Skywalker, as one of the skins sported the codename ‘Plot Twist’, which fans believed might’ve been a hint to one the most celebrated plot twists in all of Star Wars, that Anakin Skywalker became the villainous Darth Vader. Another theory fans had was that one of the skins could be Cal Kestis, as the update that would feature the mysterious new Star Wars characters would release around the same time as EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (releasing April 28th) and because for the first time, Fortnite would be introducing various Force powers into the game including Force pull, push and much more, with fans speculating it could be linked to Kestis having to re-learn various Force techniques in Survivor’s predecessor, Fallen Order. Currently, there is no direct hints as to who the other skin that was datamined could be, but the character currently boasts the codename, Cirrus Vine. As mentioned previously, fans have theorised it could be Cal Kestis given the time of release, but if the latest Star Wars and Fortnite collaboration is leaning towards the prequels (finally) then perhaps it could be another fan-favourite character from that era, Darth Maul. Another option some have theorised is Emperor Palpatine, as one of the rumoured Force powers is Force lightning. However, it may not be a Force user, as dataminers revealed previously that during the next Star Wars and Fortnite collaboration, a blaster previously not used in Fortnite gameplay, or attached to any character, is set to be released during the event, which leads me to suspect that it could possibly be a Clone Trooper.

Thankfully one of those theories, and the one I was hoping for, has been proven correct, and Anakin Skywalker will be debuting in the Battle Royale on May 2nd, ahead of Fortnite’s May 4th celebrations. The Star Wars and Fortnite event will include mythic weapons, multiple skins, and the aforementioned Force mythic powers. Fortnite have not provided any details as to the other mysterious skin, or what items Anakin Skywalker will release with, but previous leaks from dataminers revealed that the two planned Star Wars skins are set to have back blings, pickaxes, gliders and wraps, but the plot twist skin (Anakin?) will also have an emote – hopefully it’s, “this is where the fun begins.

I’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest Fortnite and Star Wars event, and will provide updates if/when they are released. Hopefully we get clarity on who the second Star Wars skin is in the coming days.
