We’re now in the release month of the highly anticipated Ahsoka series and promotion for the Disney+ project is finally kicking up a gear.
Before we continue with news of the day, I’d just like to share that you can now follow me on Threads here. Also, you can support my work in two ways. Firstly it’s via my newly created Patreon page which has a single tier at this time simply to support my work. Secondly you can tip me with a simple one off payment on my Ko-Fi page or you can choose to support my work monthly on the platform. I’d truly appreciate it if you decided to support my work, but no pressure, I know things are pretty tough out here. Anyway, back to the reason you came here – the news!
Today Lucasfilm and Disney debuted a brand new forty five second TV spot for the upcoming series. It’s not the first TV spot that’s been released as part of promotion for the series, but it is the only one to release with previously unseen footage, even if brief. The early parts of the spot focuses on the villains of the series, Baylan Skoll (Ray Stevenson), Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno), Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) and Marrock. The spot opens with new footage of the fight between Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Marrock at the industrial location we’ve seen in past trailers, but what’s unique about this clip is that it’s before the blades of the twosome clash. We see Tano enter into a fighting stance with her lightsabers ignited as Marrock stands upright and confident before removing his cape. We hear a voice over from Baylan who states “there’s so few Jedi left” and that “she”, Ahsoka, “is coming.” We see a quick glimpse of a hologram Baylan talking to an unknown character off screen and I wonder if it’s the series true big bad, Grand Admiral Thrawn (Mars Mikkelsen) as the background seems to be gold, which we’ve seen in the past is the colour of Thrawn’s quarters. A red Lucasfilm logo appears.

We hear a voice over from Tano who shares that their enemies are multiplying as we see a quick glimpse of her and Marrock running away or towards something in a forest with red leaves. We’ve seen Ahsoka and Marrock at this location previously, it’s a location where they have a second duel. We get quick flashes of Elsbeth, Skoll and Hati which we’ve seen before. Ahsoka’s voiceover continues as she states that the galaxy is not safe as we see Ahsoka Tano and Baylan Skoll clash sabers in a location we’ve seen before, the location that looks somewhat looks like Jedi temple ruins with world between worlds imagery surrounding them. Ahsoka reaches out to Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) help as we see an alternate shot of Wren riding a speeder bike on the planet Lothal before it cuts to Wren saying, “now or never” and Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) declaring “once a rebel, always a rebel”, a line we’ve heard before (which I still find awfully cringey).
Baylan stands tall with his hands on his belt surrounded by a group of mercenaries as he orders them to “hunt them down.” This line is likely referenced Ahsoka and Sabine as the shot is of Baylan on the aforementioned planet with red leaves which we’ve seen Ahsoka duelling Marrock on and Sabine facing off against Shin Hati in past trailers and this TV spot. We see a quick shot of Huyang stating that “this is where things get interesting”, as we see various unconnected shots of Ahsoka, Hera, Chopper and Sabine responding ready. We see quick flashes of past Ahsoka promotional material along with a single new shot of Shin on the red leaf planet getting ready to face-off against Sabine before another new shot of their duel appears. The spot ends with a shot we’ve seen before, Marrock spinning his lightsaber on the red-leaf planet as Ahsoka holds her’s above her head for a couple of seconds before striking. You can watch the Now or Never TV spot below.
