Adria Arjona confirms season 2 of Star Wars: Andor will release in 2025

It’s been almost two years since the first season of Andor graced our screens via Disney+ and fans are eagerly anticipating the second and final season of the critically acclaimed Star Wars series.

Filming on the second season of Andor began in November 2022 at Pinewood Studios, London and the schedule laid out at the time featured Andor wrapping up in late July or early August 2023. During filming, Andor filmed across various parts of the United Kingdom for on location shooting including Wales and even ventured outside of the U.K. to Spain. However, filming came to a grinding halt in July of 2023 when the SAG-AFTRA strike began with production having to be shut down with only a few weeks left of shooting. The SAG-AFTRA strike concluded in November and Andor season two picked back up in January this year before wrapping the following month.

Andor is currently undergoing reshoots in the United Kingdom as I reported yesterday.

The SAG-AFTRA strike, along with the WGA strike, had a massive impact on the industry and various projects faced delays and schedules for various studios were shook up. This could’ve been avoided if those Hollywood studios decided to fairly pay writers and actors earlier in the strike process.

Disney’s Star Wars series line-up received release date shake-up’s. In September 2023, I exclusively reported that Skeleton Crew, a live-action Star Wars series due to release in the Holiday season of 2023, had been delayed by an entire year, giving Skeleton Crew a new release window of around November 2024. The exclusive report of mine also revealed that The Acolyte would be the first live-action series to release in 2024 and specified it would release in the second quarter of the year (it released on June 4th) and that Andor season two, which was looking to release around August/September of this year, had suffered a delay into 2025.

Nine months on from my report, we now have confirmation from one of the stars of Andor that the series is looking to release in 2025.

Adria Arjona, who plays Bix in the Star Wars series, is currently busy promoting her new film Hit Man which she stars in alongside Glen Powell (it’s a great film that I recommend by the way). As is usually the case, if you’re part of the Star Wars universe, you’re going to be asked about the galaxy far, far away. When asked by the New York Times about a release window for the highly anticipated second and final season of Andor, Arjona revealed that the hope is for the season to release “next year [2025].”

“Season two of ‘Andor’ is coming out hopefully next year. I think people are going to freak when they see it. It’s so much bigger, smarter – Tony [Gilroy] really outdid himself.” – Adria Arjona

Arjona did not specify any particular window outside of 2025, though I’m personally hoping it arrives earlier in year as I can’t wait to see what Tony Gilroy and his incredible team have been working on. Andor is my favourite piece of Star Wars media since Disney bought Lucasfilm back in 2012 so I’m itching to regroup with these characters. If Andor season two does release early enough next year, it could slip into the television award season and hopefully walk away with some prizes. The first season of Andor was a critical darling, so if season two is anything like the first, it would deserve to be recognised for its quality and would go out on a high.
