According to a new report from The Illuminerdi, The Hate U Give, star is rumoured to be in advanced negations for the lead role in The Acolyte.
Previously The Illuminerdi reported that the lead character in The Acolyte was codenamed, Aura, which they believe Amandla Stenberg is in advanced negotiations with Lucasfilm to take on the role. Illuminerdi provided no additional details.
The 23 year old is best known for starring in The Hate U Give and had their breakout role as Rue in The Hunger Games. Most recently Stenberg starred in the Netflix series, The Eddy and box office and critical bomb, Dear Evan Hansen. Stenberg is set to star alongside Pete Davidson (The Suicide Squad, The King of Staten Island), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Hobbit) and Maria Bakalova (Borat: Subsequent Movie Film) in the horror flick, Bodies Bodies Bodies next and the animated film, Ozi, in the titular role alongside Laura Dern (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Jurassic Park).
Following the report by The Illuminerdi, Variety reported Stenberg is in advanced talks, backing up the initial claims.
The Acolyte is rumoured to be eight episodes long and is set to film this May with a likely 2023 release.
