Lucasfilm and Skydance Media have officially announced they are collaborating on an action adventure Star Wars video game with an original story.

Following the announcement Hennig said, “I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly. I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.” with Douglas Riley, VP of Lucasfilm games adding, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be working again with Amy. She and the Skydance New Media team have the talent and ambition to create a unique Star Wars adventure, their vision for making narrative driven and engaging interactive entertainment makes this collaboration very exciting. We’re working hard with their team of experienced and talented developers, and we’re looking forward to sharing more with Star Wars fans when the time is right.”

Skydance Media was created in 2019 by Amy Hennig and Julian Beak. Readers may be familiar with Hennig’s name as she previously worked on a cancelled Star Wars game alongside Visceral Games for EA which had the codename Project Ragtag. Hennig is an industry veteran who was the creator, creative director and writer of the Uncharted series for Naughty Dog and Sony, and saw the development of the first three games as well as Jak 3 for the studio. Beak was a senior producer of Need For Speed, and Battlefield Hardline during his time at Electronic Arts. At this time Skydance New Media have not released a video game, but announced a partnership with Marvel Entertainment in October to release a video game focused on one of the company’s many IP’s.

Skydance’s title is now part of an ever growing list of upcoming Star Wars video games with multiple projects in the works including a Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel from Respawn Entertainment, an open-world game from Ubisoft, Knights of the Old Republic Remake from Aspyr Media, a first person shooter from Respawn Entertainment, Star Wars: Eclipse from Quantic Dream, and a turn based title from Bit Reactor.
