Andor was set to have 5 seasons; will now have 3

Though we’re yet to see the first season of Andor, or even a trailer for the series, we’re already getting information on future seasons of series.

Yesterday it was revealed by MakingStarWars that Andor season two is set to begin filming this November at Elstree Studios in the United Kingdom. Season two starting to film in November is information I’d previously heard and corroborated. The outlet added that their sources told them Andor could film for up to eighteen months, meaning it would wrap in May 2024. This led to speculation that perhaps Andor is filming seasons two and three back-to-back, or Lucasfilm plans to film another project at the same location immediately after Andor season two wraps up.

However following yesterdays news, Andor’s director of photography, Adriano Goldman, has revealed to TVCultura that Andor was originally going to have five seasons, but he believes that’s no longer the plan and that Andor will instead have three. Goldman told the network, “The series I worked on was supposed to be five seasons long, but I think it’s not happening. It will now have three maybe.”

Andor getting multiple seasons is not a surprise to me as I’d heard that Lucasfilm deliberately chose to set the first season five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story because they’d hoped to get multiple seasons from the show. However it is somewhat of a surprise to learn they initially wanted five and that something changed to drop them down to three. Regardless it shows nothing but confidence from Lucasfilm committing to multiple seasons of a TV series that has yet to air, and one people have questioned the need of.

Personally I’m ecstatic to hear that Andor could be getting three seasons as I’ve heard nothing but fantastic things regarding the series, and the amount of talent involved is spectacular. I am currently sitting on more information on Andor season one from my trustworthy sources which I’ll release soon, but if you want to keep up-to-date with the latest leaks, news, reputable rumours, and my exclusive reports, then be sure to sign up to my mailing list below.
