B1 Battle Droids rumored to be coming to Fortnite

Following a week of speculation, the official Fortnite Twitter account has added fuel to the flames regarding even more Star Wars skins releasing shortly. Over the past few days, it’s been revealed by various dataminers that the new Star Wars skins that were likely linked with the prequels would be releasing within the next week, and at some point, an Order 66 tie-in will happen – this is purely just my speculation, but I assume the NPC Clone Troopers scattered around the map would turn on players once Order 66 has been called.

The Star Wars x Fortnite event is currently set to continue for another week, with a third round of Star Wars based quests set to arrive later this week. The quests grant players various items included in a free Star Wars battle pass, and you can upgrade to a premium battle pass to access even more items. The items included feature a Darth Maul skin, a pod racer emote, along with a bevy of Clone Trooper skins. The next set of Star Wars quests are titled The Fall of the Republic, which ties in nicely with the Order 66 event rumours. If you’ve yet to return to Fortnite for the skins, you can still complete the past Star Wars quests and work your way to obtaining all the items in the Star Wars battle pass. Fortnite’s latest Star Wars crossover also included paid for skins in the games item shop which featured Anakin Skywlaker, Padmé Amidala along with the 501st and 212th Clone Troopers, and previous Star Wars and Fortnite collaborations have all also returned to the store.

We’ve known for around a week that at least two new Star Wars skins would be arriving in Fortnite within the next week and that those skins shared similar codenames to the Darth Maul skin. The Maul skin was codenamed CirrusVine, and the new new skins are codenamed AuricVune and HornettaVine. This led fans and players to speculate that perhaps the new skins were tied to villains due to the Maul link, with many instantly gravitating towards Emperor Palpatine as new Force powers including Force lightning are set to appear in the game within the next week. Others speculated that General Grievous, leader of the droid army, could be one of the skins as he too is one of the more recognisable villains from the Star Wars prequel trilogy that the current Star Wars collaboration is focused on.

Earlier today, the official Fortnite Twitter account tweeted, “Roger, Roger”, which sent fans and players into overdrive believing that this was a hint that the B1 Battle Droids would be coming to the game shortly and that the B1 might be one of the mystery skins. As mentioned we know of two new skins coming, one of which could be the B1 Battle Droid, but it’s also possible that there’s B1 variants which leads there to be two B1 Skins. It’s also possible that the B1 receives variants, but they’re tied to one codename, leaving a space open for another possible Star Wars skin. As mentioned, the two most speculated villains are General Grievous and Emperor Palpatine, both of which would tie in nicely with what we know about the event. It’s also a possibility that there’s more than two skins set to be released, as before the latest collaboration, dataminers only found two codenames for the Star Wars collaboration which turned out to be Anakin Skywalker and Darth Maul, which we got in addition to six Clone Trooper variants and Padmé Amidala.

Hopefully we get clarification on the new Star Wars skins in the coming days.
