There’s has been rumours for months of a handful of animated Star Wars series being in the works at Lucasfilm and one of those has been a series focusing on Darth Maul, well if anything those rumours have been around for years, and during the Lucasfilm Animation panel at Star Wars Celebration Japan, the Maul rumours got an exciting update.
Sam Witwer, the voice of Maul, took to the stage to announce a brand new animated series, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, and that the series will debut on Disney+ in 2026.

According those in attendance, a trailer for Maul was showcased during the panel and currently there seems to be very few details of what was shown online. I’ve seen individuals share that Rook Kast and Marrok are seen and the most exciting part, Maul has an apprentice, and they look very much like a young Darth Talon.
I’ve been checked out of the Star Wars animated series since the last season of season Clone Wars, I really did not enjoy The Bad Batch so I stopped watching. However, this Maul series has grabbed my attention, especially with the inclusion of Talon and for us to possibly be see how he became the head of Crimson Dawn, a storyline fans have been asking for since 2018.
