Star Wars fans, we are now just sixty four days away from finally seeing a brand new Star Wars movie on the big screen, the first new Star Wars movie in seven years in the form of The Mandalorian and Grogu, the follow up feature film from director Jon Favreau to the hit Disney+ series, The Mandalorian.
In recent weeks promotion on the film has started to ramp up with a new trailer, a TV spot, interviews with various magazines and even some exclusive footage is playing in select theatres, though astoundingly, nobody has managed to get any video of the behind the scenes featurette playing in IMAX — all we have is a couple of pictures of a helmetless Din Djarin that some eager Pedro Pascal fans managed to snap.
Another Glimpse
Yesterday, brief new footage from The Mandalorian and Grogu debuted during the latest Disney shareholders meeting, the first since Bob Iger stepped down and was succeeded by Josh D’Amaro, who pointed to The Mandalorian and Grogu being one of the marquee feature film releases from Disney this year alongside other titles such as The Devil Wears Prada 2, Toy Story 5, Moana (live-action) and of course, Avengers: Doomsday.

The new footage shows posted by @mando3media on Twitter reveals two new in-movie shots of Din Djarin including one of him using his flamethrower and some behind the scenes footage, one shot being that of Pedro Pascal putting the iconic helmet on to complete his Din Djarin costume — of course we got the shot of the internet’s daddy being leaked.
Given some of the shots that have leaked from the shareholder meeting, we can’t help but wonder if some of the footage featured is also part of the exclusive behind the scenes IMAX footage that has still to yet find a way online. Maybe eager Star Wars fans will be able to get a glimpse of the footage this weekend ahead of Project Hail Mary, if it’s attached.
Last week following reports that IMAX screenings at Odeon cinemas had the exclusive behind the scenes featurette, one of our writers headed to an Odeon to watch an early IMAX screening of Project Hail Mary with hopes of seeing the footage. Unfortunately all they got was the alternate trailer of The Mandalorian and Grogu that had been playing in front of the Disney and Pixar movie, Hoppers.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to release on May 22nd, 2026.
