Ewan McGregor confirms Hayden Christensen shot scenes as both Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series

Leading man of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, Ewan McGregor, has confirmed that Hayden Christensen shot scenes for the upcoming series as both Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker.

Ewan McGregor recently spoke with Forbes regarding an upcoming commercial, but as you’d expect, the topic of Star Wars reared its head and McGregor ended up speaking a little about the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and let it slip that Hayden Christensen shot scenes as Anakin Skywalker, and not just as Darth Vader. McGregor told Forbes, “I think it’s no secret that Hayden Christensen comes back and we got to play scenes together again as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and it was just fantastic to work with him again. I’m not going to give away anything else about the storyline, only I think it’s really going to satisfy Star Wars fans.”

Even though McGregor believes it’s no secret that he shot scenes with Hayden as Anakin Skywalker, it has only ever been confirmed by Lucasfilm that Hayden would star simply as Darth Vader. Yes, it feels like a no brainer that we’d get to see flashbacks of Anakin and Obi-Wan, and that’s something fans have been hoping for since Christensen was confirmed to be returning to the role of Darth Vader, but it’s nice to get confirmation of it from Ewan himself.

From what I’ve heard regarding the upcoming series, fans should be very excited for Obi-Wan Kenobi, and yesterday I shared a little of what I know by exclusively reporting that Rupert Friend would star in the series as the fan favourite Star Wars: Rebels character the Grand Inquisitor, along with some other minor details. Later on MakingStarWars added to my story and reported that they’d heard of scenes featuring Moses Ingram’s Inquisitor chopping hands off of Tatooine locals which amusingly shocked the Grand Inquisitor, which I too have heard.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series is expected to release sometime this May, though Lucasfilm and Disney have yet to confirm the official release date. However stay tuned to Bespin Bulletin for future updates and exclusive information on the series that I plan to sharing with you all in the near future.
