It’s been over two years since the Obi-Wan Kenobi series wrapped up on Disney+ and since some people, one man in particular, have brought up the hopes of a second season of the series. Ewan McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, ever since the series concluded in 2022, has been consistent and vocal about wanting to return to the character in a second season of the series.
Today at Los Angeles Comic-Con, McGregor has reportedly revealed to those in attendance during a panel that Lucasfilm are at this time “exploring ideas” of a second season of the hit Disney+ series. An attendee of the convention and panel, Jamie Jirak, took to X (formally Twitter) to reveal the information. The X user added that McGregor is hoping to get the chance to wear Kenobi’s Clone Wars armour in live-action and that there would be flashbacks with Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker – so he’s basically hoping for Clone Wars flashbacks.
Many fans had wanted to see Kenobi and Skywalker don their Clone Wars armour in the first season of the Kenobi series, but that did not come to fruition, though it did feature flashbacks of the master and appearance training, which was a highlight of the season to me personally. We got to see Anakin in a Clone Wars flashback, donning his armour from the animated series, in the Disney+ Ahsoka series, so I think it’s only fair we see McGregor in the costume of his animated counterpart. You may as well throw Ahsoka in these hypothetical flashbacks too, even if it’s just for a brief kick of nostalgia and a bit of dopamine.

Personally I’m all for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I know many fans online were displeased with the first season and it was by no means perfect, but it was a hit for Disney+, becoming their second most popular Star Wars live-action series behind The Mandalorian. Disney+ Star Wars hasn’t had a great couple of years in terms of viewership, Ahsoka’s was middling, Andor was a critical darling, but didn’t attract much of a viewership and the less said about the viewership on The Acolyte the better.
Disney+ Star Wars needs a shot in the arm with The Mandalorian transitioning into becoming a film franchise with The Mandalorian and Grogu, and the next two returning Star Wars series, Andor and Ahsoka, as mentioned, likely won’t attract high viewership, certainly not the amount of views that Kenobi previously attracted.I
f Lucasfilm are only now kicking around ideas for a second season of Kenobi then we likely won’t see it for quite some time, maybe very late 2026 or more likely 2027. At this time there is only one live-action Star Wars series listed for 2025, Andor season two, and Ahsoka season two is currently the only live-action series expected in 2026. 2026 will also see the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu in May and there’s a second, untitled, Star Wars movie slated for December 2026. Personally I’d like to see the Star Wars output slow down as we ramp back up into movies, you don’t want to oversaturate, you want Star Wars to feel missed a little and for its return to cinemas to feel like an event. One film and one series a year from 2026 on would be more than enough for little old me.
