EXCLUSIVE: Andor season 2 filming at the McLaren Technology Centre, Woking

Hello there! Before we continue with the article I kindly ask you to consider showing your support and appreciation for my work by tipping me via my Ko-Fi page here. Tips are quite rare around these parts, but I assure you no matter how big or small, each tip is deeply appreciated. Now, let’s get on with the news!

The second season of the critically acclaimed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spin-off series, Andor, has been filming for just over two months in the United Kingdom. The series created by the mastermind behind the Bourne franchise, Tony Gilroy, has been filming exclusively behind the walls of Pinewood Studios, London so far, which is also where the first season was primarily shot. Season one of the series started venturing out from Pinewood Studios and began shooting on location in various parts of England and Scotland a handful of months into principal photography, and now it appears Andor season two is finally doing the same.

It was just yesterday we got word that Andor was going global and was venturing to Valencia, Spain soon to shoot various scenes. Details on the Valencia shoot are sparse to say the least, but the casting of extras is well underway in the Spanish city. Though we thought this may be the first on location shoot for the second season, I can confirm that this is not the case and that Andor season two is currently filming at the McLaren Technology Centre located in Woking, England.

My Clicker Cast: The Last of Us Podcast co-host, Matt Hudson, was boots on the ground in Woking and managed to snap some images of EE signs pointing towards the McLaren Technology Centre. If you’re unfamiliar, EE stands for E&E Industries, the production company name being used for Andor and were seen at various locations during the season one shoot. It’s worth remembering that this is the name of production company being used for Andor, and not the series codename, which just like season one is Pilgrim.

The McLaren Technology Centre may sound familiar to you, and it should, as Andor season one filmed scenes at the location. Notably it used as the Coruscant Spacesport seen in the fourth episode of Andor’s first season, where Syril Karn was seen returning to the planet, which also home to Mon Mothma, to live with his mother for the foreseeable future following the botched events of Ferrix that Karn had spearheaded.

Given how the McLaren Technology Centre was used as the Coruscant Spaceport in Andor’s first season, you’d probably expect it to be used for the same location in season two. I’ve got no confirmation on that, but it feels like the most logical outcome. I don’t know how long filming has been taking place at the McLaren Technology Centre, or how long filming will continue at the location, so if you fancy attempting to get a glimpse at filming taking place then I’d suggest you go sooner much rather than later.

Andor season two began filming towards the tail end of November at Pinewood Studios, London, and filming is due to run until August. The second season of Andor is due to release exclusively on Disney+ during the latter half of next year.
