Last month production on the second season of Andor began at Pinewood Studios, London and until today things have been kept under wraps. In the run up to filming beginning on Andor’s first season, fans already saw construction on a large set located in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire, which became Cassian’s home of Ferrix, but this time around we’ve seen nothing and the reason for that seems to be because the production, at least for now, is using the Pinewood Studios backlot for its large outdoor sets and signs can be seen using the name, “Pilgrim S2” – Pilgrim being the codename for the Andor series.
Just a few weeks ago I spoke to somebody familiar with the production who told me a large set was being constructed at Pinewood and that the set was very familiar of Ferrix, and they wondered if it was even Ferrix itself. You can the set being constructed below and make up your mind if the set in question is Ferrix, but personally I think it’s far too early to tell.
An assortment of props was also spotted near the Andor set which you can see below.
The Andor set is using the main backlot of Pinewood Studios, but what’s interesting is that The Acolyte is using Pinewood Studios’ northern complex which is located just across the road from the main Pinewood lot. Signs for Paradox, the codename of The Acolyte, point to the location and I’ve had it confirmed to me that the production using that area is a Star Wars production unrelated to Andor. The Acolyte was originally due to film at Pinewood Studios when the production was slated to begin in May of this year before production was delayed to October and moved to Shinfield Studios, Berkshire.
Andor is slated to film until August and will release in the latter half of 2024 whilst The Acolyte is expected to film until May with a rumoured release of the earlier half of 2024.
