Fortnite releases trailer for their LEGO Star Wars collaboration; Arriving May 3rd

Ahead of their Star Wars event that kicks off on May 3rd, Fortnite have shared a trailer for their LEGO mode that will be receiving a major Star Wars update.

The trailer features a promotional image attached at the end which leaked earlier this month. The image sparked speculation that skins for C3PO, Chewbacca, Death Troopers, Rebel Fleet Troopers and Rebel Fleet Commanders would be arriving in Fortnite on May 3rd as part of their latest Star Wars collaboration. The trailer confirms the validity of the previously leaked image and the speculation of those skins being added to the hugely popular video game. However, the trailer also confirms a bevy of additional skins that were not previously announced or leaked.

Within the trailer fans can see LEGO variants of skins and characters that are currently not in Fortnite, meaning they’re due to be added as part of the Star Wars event. LEGO characters are variants of Battle Royale skins. The following skins can be seen in the trailer that have not been announced, Imperial Scout Trooper, Imperial Snow Trooper, Imperial Officer, X-Wing Pilot and Mon Calamari Rebel.

In addition to all those mentioned, Fortnite have also confirmed new skins being added for Luke Skywalker, who will be getting a Dagobah variant and Lando Calrissian. It’s also been reported previously, though still unconfirmed, that Leia Organa will be receiving a new skin dubbed ‘Rebel.’ This means that THIRTEEN brand new Star Wars skins could be making their way to Fortnite on May 3rd.

If you’re interested in the aforementioned Chewbacca skin, then you will when to purchase the LEGO Battle Pass, Rebel Adventure, that launches on Friday. The pass will have a free and a premium version, though only the premium version will grant players access to Chewbacca and his LEGO counterpart.

Epic shared the following regarding their Star Wars LEGO update:

The Galactic Empire is in hot pursuit of a band of Rebels, who need your help! The Empire and Rebels are unknowingly heading to a rift to your world, which will lead them to a new island in your world. This island will stick around even after v29.40.

Before investigating the Empire crash site, you should check on your Rebel allies. You’ll receive a pair of Macrobinoculars after the crash, which will point you to the Rebel Village! This rinky-dink shelter on “Star Wars Island” needs your help becoming a full-on Rebel headquarters.

The Rebel Village can level up all the way to Level 10. Howto level it up? Complete objectives like supplying resources and constructing Rebel buildings. If you plan to become a local hero, don’t worry about saying goodbye to your Rebel neighbors anytime soon — the Rebel Village will remain beyond v29.40.

Be warned — the crash of the Empire’s Star Destroyer isn’t the Empire’s end. Instead, the Empire will try to make yourworld their home. They’ll be surrounding the crash site with camps, and it’s up to you to infiltrate them and take back your world! After spending some time with the Rebels, find these bases with the help of your Macrobinoculars. Like the look of Imperial architecture? You can choose not to damage the camps, and keep them and their inhabitants beyond v29.40! The crash site will stay too so you can admire the remains of the Star Destroyer.

Epic went on to detail what new Star Wars weapons and items will be added to Fortnite’s LEGO mode. Those include, lightsabers, bowcasters, dl-44, e-11, thermal detonators and a rebel workbench. The items will still be present in LEGO Fortnite after the Star Wars update.

The latest Star Wars and Fortnite collaboration is undoubtedly the biggest and best yet. All this content and more arrive in Fortnite on May 3rd, this Friday.
