Star Wars The Mandalorian and Grogu will feature the return of an Imperial Warlord. The upcoming blockbuster will connect back to previous seasons of the show it was developed from and director Jon Favreau has teased this Imperial Remnant leader’s involvement.
In a new interview with Empire Magazine, the writer and director of The Mandalorian and Grogu discussed and gave a little tease for the film. Star Wars’ first film in over 6 years is the cover story for May’s Empire issue and it is packed with new images plus cast and crew interviews and more.
One of the new photos from the film included in this issue shows an Imperial Warlord who was first seen as part of Shadow Council in The Mandalorian Season 3 episode “The Spies”. He is sat in what looks to be arena type of environment. Grogu is also caged off to the side. The photo can be found below:

As spotted by some fans on social media, the English actor has a name for his character listed as part of the cast on IMDB. The name is “Imperial Warlord Janu Coin”. Now we all know IMDB can be edited by the public and include false information so this might not end up being his name. Janu Coin is somewhat similar to Jonny Coyne too.
The film’s director had something to say about Coyne’s character. Favreau teased in this Empire issue that “You’ll like his character name when you hear it” for Coyne’s mysterious Imperial Remnant member.
The Mandalorian and Grogu-fronted issue of Empire is on sale now at newstands. The film will be launching into cinema and IMAX screens on May 22nd.
In other The Mandalorian and Grogu news this week, the film’s first TV spot aired. It contains footage not found in the the previous two trailers for the movie. You can check it out here. Plus, Jon Favreau mentioned The Mandalorian Season 4 in this new Empire interview.
