Knights of the Old Republic Remake delayed indefinitely

According to a report from Bloomberg by Jason Schrier, the highly anticipated Knights of the Old Republic Remake has been indefinitely delayed amidst a studio shake-up at Aspyr Media. Aspyr Media reportedly fired both the Knights of the Old Republic Remake’s art director and design director earlier this month and following the the events, the video game studio has informed employees that development on the title has been paused as they look for new contracts and development opportunities.

Back in May, Aspyr Media brought on Saber Interactive to help develop the title but according to the report, some at Aspyr Media believe that Saber Interactive may now take over development entirely due to recent events. The report also claims that Aspyr Media had previously hoped to release the title in late 2022 when development on Knights of the Old Republic Remake began, but due to the current circumstances developers of the game say that a release in 2025 is more realistic.

Ahead of the firing, Aspyr Media reportedly showed their partners, Lucasfilm and Sony Interactive (Knights of the Old Republic is a timed exclusive on Sony’s PlayStation 5) a demo of the video game at the end of June with the partners weren’t pleased with how development on the title was coming along. However according to a source of Bloomberg, one developer at Aspyr was unhappy with how much time and resources were put into the demo and that the titles current course of was unsustainable.

I personally hope this isn’t the end of the road for the KOTOR Remake, and that Aspyr and Saber are able to continue to work on the project, even if it takes much longer to produce.
