Ahead of the release of the second and final season of the critically acclaimed Andor, Tony Gilroy, the series creator and showrunner, has revealed an interesting and unexpected project is in development at Lucasfilm…a horror project.
When speaking with Business Insider at the red carpet event in London last night for Andor, the writer-director shocked fans by revealing that Lucasfilm are actively working on a Star Wars horror project, though Gilroy did not share whether it’s planned to be a film or series.
“They’re already doing that. I think they’re doing that. I think that’s in the works, yeah.” – Tony Gilroy

Gilroy was asked about the horror project due to comments he made earlier in the year to SFX Magazine where he joked that he like to see a multi-camera sitcom (think The Big Bang Theory and not Young Sheldon) or horror project developed for the Star Wars universe.
It seems Gilroy himself isn’t involved in that project as he didn’t refer to it as a project he or we are working on, but rather they’re, Lucasfilm.
It seems as if Andor season two is Gilroy’s last project Gilroy is set to work on for Lucasfilm after dedicating six years of his life to the Star Wars series and being involved in the Star Wars universe for ten years due to his work on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
“It’s not really part of my plan. I’ve been peripherally involved for 10 years and intensely involved for six years, so that’s a pretty big chunk of my life. There are other things to do. I think when it’s done, I will have left a pretty big piece of Star Wars real estate behind. I’m feeling guilty about not chipping in.” – Tony Gilroy on working on more Star Wars projects after Andor season two via Collider
I’m not allowing myself to get too excited at the prospect of a Star Wars horror project. Lucasfilm have not formally announced the project and things get developed and don’t get made all the time, not just at Lucasfilm, but industry wide. Even if Lucasfilm did confirm their intention to make a horror film or series, the only thing that would excite me would be who’s developing it, if it were somebody like Zach Creggor then I’d be pretty excited, but if it was more somebody akin to James Wan then probably not.
