Boba Fett will not be returning to live action Star Wars any time soon after Lucasfilm has put a stop to the iconic character’s future. That’s according to Boba himself, Temuera Morrison.
Some fans have speculated Fett will make a grand return in The Mandalorian and Grogu but Morrison has consistently shut that down and has spoken more on the topic this week. Whilst Star Wars actors are known for lying about their involvement in Star Wars projects, Tem is being sincere here.
Unhappy Lucasfilm
Morrison was interviewed by Inverse during the press tour for the latest film he stars in, The Bluff and was asked about coming back as Boba Fett at some point. Last year the actor joked that fans should send a fax, letter or email over to Lucasfilm about Boba returning. As per this new interview, Lucasfilm were not so humoured by it.
Tem reveals the Disney-owned company gave him a phone call about what he said. They also reiterated “Look, you’ve been put on the shelf, Boba Fett. We might open up the jar later.” The actor does have a little bit of hope though saying “I’m shelved, that’s all. Like a jar of peaches. When it does get opened, I’m going to come out sweeter, darling.” He said a similar thing back in 2025.
Boba fans have reacted negatively to this on social media. There’s a desire to see Tem don the iconic green Mandalorian armour once again.

“It was a big deal for me. When you do a series like (The Book of) Boba Fett and work with Ming-Na Wen, I started to think, Man, this is it. I’m away. Season 2, 3, 4. But at the end of it, we had a great time. I was honored to be brought back after all that time.
I’m Jango. I’m Boba. I’m Commander Cody. I’m all the clones. I’m Captain Rex… the list goes on, so I really can’t complain.”
This is not much different from what we heard from Tem in 2024. Fans were extremely upset to hear the actor say that Boba’s return in The Mandalorian Season 4 had been cancelled and he would not appear in this year’s The Mandalorian and Grogu film. Despite 18 months passing, Boba Fett is still frozen out by Lucasfilm. Even as the new leadership, Dave Filoni does not appear so keen to bring back the great Boba Fett after the show was not as well received as Lucasfilm would have liked.
As someone who loves Tem’s enthusiasm and portrayal of many Star Wars characters, I really hope Lucasfilm brings Boba back with a bang. A Season 2 of his show might still not work but give him a larger role within The Mandalorian realm and fans will be happy.
