Lucasfilm teasing Star Wars video game announcement for December 14th

As part of their Bring Home the Bounty promotional campaign, LucasFilm have revealed a new video game announcement will take place on December 14th.

The Bring Home the Bounty promotional campaign will see new announcements for toys, collectibles, books and much more. However it’s unclear if the video game announcement is tied to an already known project or something brand new.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga debuted a new gameplay trailer in August and announced a release window of Spring 2022, and in my opinion, an update on the release – a specific release date for example, would seem reasonable.

Two things fans shouldn’t expect to hear about is any upcoming releases from EA including the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, as EA previously announced they aren’t planning to give fans an update on their Star Wars projects until next year. You also shouldn’t expect an update on Aspyr Media’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake which was officially announced in September as producers stated at the time that there won’t be another update for quite some time.

One option could be an update on the untitled Ubisoft open-world Star Wars title being developed by Ubisoft Massive. We haven’t heard an update on this project since January, but Massive are currently hard at work on their next title, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora which is set to release sometime in 2022 which makes it less likely we’ll get one in just two months.

Recently there’s been a rumour going around the studio behind Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream, are working on a Star Wars video game. DualShockers previously reported that the title had been in development for around 18 months, with production officially starting several months ago. Kotaku backed up rumours and stated that Quantic Dream were stepping away from their usual quick time event driven games and instead the game will be more action oriented with traditional gameplay and could be open-world with multiplayer elements. I would not be surprised to see this title announced in December.

The most disappointing announcements for me is if it’s related to a mobile game or more gaming greats for the Black Series. Fingers crossed whatever the announcement is, it’ll at least be exciting.
