THR are exclusively reporting that Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast in an unknown role in the upcoming The Mandalorian spin-off, Ahsoka, which is due to release sometime in 2023.
Winstead is probably best known for her role as Ramona in the cult classic, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, and as Michelle in 10 Cloverfield Lane. Most recently Winstead starred alongside Margot Robbie in the Suicide Squad spin-off, Birds of Prey, and the Netflix exclusive film, Kate. Winstead is also no stranger to television, and you recall her from a season of Fargo where she starred alongside Mr. Hello There himself, and her current partner, Ewan McGregor.
The Hollywood Reporter did not provide any additional details on Winstead’s role in the series, but did add that filming on Ahsoka, is due to begin this Spring, and has not already begun as previously reported by Production Weekly earlier this week.
Ahsoka is currently in pre-production, and will film at Manhattan Beach Studios in Los Angeles alongside the El Segundo train yard. Both seasons of The Mandalorian filmed at these locations, as well as The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Ahsoka is being written by Dave Filoni, and will be executive produced by Filoni, Jon Favreau, and Kathleen Kennedy, with Rosario Dawson starring in the titular role.
