According to an exclusive report from Jeff Sneider, star of Ti West’s X trilogy (X, Pearl, MaXXXine), Mia Goth, has signed on to star in Star Wars: Starfighter which is set to star Ryan Gosling (La La Land) and to be directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool and Wolverine).
The role was originally offered to Academy award winner, Mikey Maddison, who turned down the role due to the financials. According to Sneider on The Hot Mic podcast, Maddison was asking for $6M – a figure Lucasfilm did not want to pay.
Sneider shared no details on the role which Goth is set to play, but The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed past rumors that Madison was offered the female villain role of flick and that’s the role Goth is set to play. Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad) was reportedly offered the male villain role, but chose to star in the next entry of The Hunger Games franchise instead. Greta Lee (Past Lives) also reportedly turned down a role in the movie as it wasn’t significant enough – rumours claimed it was a role of a Cantina owner. Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things) has been rumoured to be in talks for a role in the flick
I’m a big fan of Goth and think she suits a villainous role in Star Wars and I’m interested to see who she’s paired with. She can next be seen alongside Oscar Isaac in Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein which is due to release in November. Goth is currently filming for Christopher Nolan’s next big screen effort, The Odyssey.
Star Wars: Starfighter is set to begin filming this Fall and is due to release in May 2027.
