We’re in the early hours of Disney’s annual Disney+ Day which celebrates the streaming service with exciting new releases on the service along with announcements and reveals. Today Disney and Lucasfilm released the making of the series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, on the service in the form of Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return, which was announced last month, but fans were surprised to find a special look at Lucasfilm’s next series on the service.
Disney+ users had a surprise to be sure today when they discovered a special look at Andor had been released on the service. The special look opens with showrunner Tony Gilroy and leading man, Diego Luna, discussing the series before a five minute scene plays out followed by a new trailer. The scene is an extended version of the first Andor clip released a number of weeks ago, where Cassian meets with Stellan Skarsgård’s Luthen Rail. Cassian is trying to strike a deal with Luthen as he’s selling an item he stole from the Empire. Luthen offers Andor even more credits if he tells him how he came into possession of the item and attempts to convince the thief to join him and the growing Rebellion. However the conversion is cut short as their meeting is ambushed by the unknown security bureau seen in past trailers. Blaster bolts are fired by both sides causing chaos at the meeting location with metal chains swinging erratically, metal infrastructures falling to the ground and walls crumbling as Cassian attempts to retrieve the item he was looking to sell Luthen, but almost loses his life in the process. The sequence ends with Cassian abandoning the device and the duo escaping with their lives after almost being crushed.
The scene itself is thrilling and an exciting taste of what’s to come from the series. However following the scene, Disney and Lucasfilm treated fans to a brand new trailer for series which debuts on Disney+ on September 21st. Not a lot of new footage is shown in the trailer, but at this point I think Disney and Lucasfilm have shared enough. The trailer hasn’t officially been released, but it has been uploaded to YouTube which you can see below.
The final treat from Andor is a new clip that what released on Good Morning America which shows our hero being confronted by a Ferrix local man who Cassian seemingly owes money to. The local has brought a friend in as muscle, who Cassian knows and questions why he’s taking orders. The clip has yet to be uploaded to YouTube, but you can see it below.
