Today MakingStarWars is reporting that new footage from the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be released within a week – possibly even in just a couple of days. Though the report doesn’t mention any details of what’s shown in the footage, it’s mentioned that it lines up with what they’ve been told and reported on the series. The report also adds that the footage is official, and not leaked footage from the Kenobi set like the Vader and Kenobi video that made its way onto YouTube a few weeks back.
What’s very interesting is that the report only refers to this promotional release as footage, and the belief is it’s not a new trailer. This leads me to think it’s possibly some sort of TV sport, or possibly even a featurette of some kind. Though the report doesn’t rule out a new trailer coming down the line, they don’t believe what’s set to be released within the next week is a trailer and add that “a lot on the table” to release.
The outlet was the first and only to accurately report the release date for the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer, February 9th, so I think you’re safe to raise your hopes of new footage delivering within a week.
Some fans have recently begun speculating and hoping that a new trailer for the limited series would release on May the fourth, with hopes of seeing Darth Vader included in the next trailer. I personally won’t be surprised if we get our first look at Vader in an upcoming TV spot, maybe even one focused on the Sith Lord, but this is merely speculation on my behalf. Either way I’m very excited to see even more footage from Kenobi as I’m sure you are.
