Empire Magazine have announced their cover story for May is Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The upcoming release from the publication will contain new details on the upcoming Star Wars movie plus photos and interviews with cast and crew.

The British outlet teased this announcement yesterday afternoon. There was also a behind the scenes image of Grogu shared. Now two covers and details have been revealed. You can view the May issue cover below along with the exclusive subscriber cover. (Left: standard cover, Right: subscriber exclusive).

Empire say they sat down with lead actor Pedro Pascal, director Jon Favreau, Lucasfilm Co-CEO and co-writer Dave Filoni, New Republic general Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White and to discuss the film for this issue. Expect a special selection of images from a photoshoot too. These images were shot on set in LA by Robert Ascroft.

They reportedly ask Pedro Pascal what it is like to remove the helmet once again. Meanwhile Jeremy Allen White is quizzed on voice acting as Rotta the Hutt which few saw coming. It is said Rotta is now a gladiator as expected.

    New Image And Details

Empire have shared a new image from the film showing Din and Grogu on an AT-RT. Along with this screen, Lucasfilm co-CEO Dave Filoni says this film is a “celebration” of Mando and Grogu rather than having to introduce a new set of characters like The Force Awakens did.

There is confirmation Phil Tippett’s studio will be providing stop-motion work on this film alongside the practical sets and puppets done by other crews.

This special issue of Empire will go on sale at newstands from next Thursday, March 12th 2026. You can also pre-order a copy online here for £8.99. That’s when you can expect to learn more about the new movie that is coming out in a couple of months.

In other The Mandalorian and Grogu news this week, there is a rumour the film will premiere and Cannes Film Festival much like Solo: A Star Wars Story. Plus, a trailer with alternative scenes is currently playing in cinemas before Disney’s Hoppers. You can get a look and description of the new The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer here.
