Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on May 25th

Not even 24 hours after The Book of Boba Fett wrapped up its season, Lucasfilm formally announced their next series, the eagerly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi, will release its debut episode on May 25th and also revealed the first official poster for the series.

Fans have long speculated that Kenobi would premiere in May, with many fans expecting a May the 4th start date, but fans just have to wait a little longer to see Mr. Hello There himself hitting our screens. Though Kenobi isn’t landing on the annual Star Wars day, it is landing on May 25th, which is culturally significant in the world of Star Wars as it’s the date A New Hope released on back in 1977.

Since last week fans have been eagerly anticipating an official announcement since a Disney+ manager made a goof and tweeted that the series would release in May before back tracking. The Hollywood Reporter shortly after reported that the series would in-fact debut sometime in May, but did not give a specific date.

Social media is abuzz following the announcement from Lucasfilm, and are now expecting a trailer. What I’ll say to those fans is to lower your expectations as the first poster for The Book of Boba Fett released on September 29th, 2021 but a trailer for the series didn’t release until November 1st – just over one month later.

Disney in more recent times have debuted trailers for their tent pole series around two months before the series begins. I previously mentioned Fett debuting a trailer on November 1st, just under two months from the first episode hitting Disney+ on December 29th. Looking back further, Hawkeye debuted its initial trailer in September ahead of the season premiere in November, and the same can be said for Loki, which released a trailer in April before the series premiere in June. So with Kenobi not debuting until late May, I personally wouldn’t expect a trailer until later in March.

Kenobi has been a long time coming and it finally feels like we’re at the end of the road awaiting this monumental series. I can’t wait to share more information with you all about the show over the coming weeks, and I am extremely excited to finally see our beautiful boy back on our screens.
