Star Wars Battlefront 2 is gaining downloads each month despite no new content in 6 years showing that there is appetite for multiplayer Star Wars gaming. This month marks the 6th anniversary of the game’s final update: Battle on Scarif and the dissolvement of the Star Wars Battlefront team and yet it remains a top downloaded game.
PlayStation Shows Battlefront Holds Position
PlayStation shared their monthly game charts for PS5, PS4, PSVR and F2P game downloads for all of March in recent days. In the charts, Star Wars Battlefront II has been the only Star Wars title found within the top 20 lists for many months now. It even topped the charts two months last summer during the community’s self-created resurgence.
In February we spotted that the game was the 19th most downloaded PS4 game in the USA and Canada combined. As for March, it remained in 19th place. Considering more PS Plus titles being added and seasonal trends, it is great to see DICE’s second Battlefront title remaining one of the most downloaded PS4 titles. More recent games such as Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor are nowhere to be found.
It is also worth noting the PS4 download charts contain downloads made to both PS4 and PS5 consoles. There is no native PS5 version of Battlefront 2 so all downloads are classed in the PS4 charts.
Battlefront’s Future

Can Star Wars Battlefront 2 continue this form? It can most certainly improve on it. We’ve heard rumblings of yet another resurgence that will kick off in May for Star Wars day on May 4th. With that being just a few short weeks away, it won’t be long before another large scale online takeover begins. Will it reach last year’s record breaking heights? We’ll just have to wait and see.
In an exciting development, the community-built Kyber platform for mods and private matches will be getting a significant update in the not so distant future. It will be full of features requested by players. Kyber currently averages around a peak of a thousand concurrent players daily. Not bad considering it is a PC-only platform for a game that released almost a decade ago.
