Rumored synopsis for the Daisy Ridley led Star Wars: New Jedi Order movie reportedly inaccurate

Yesterday a dubious brief plot synopsis for the upcoming Daisy Ridley led Star Wars film expected to be released in 2026 made its way around the internet, with many believing the synopsis to be accurate, but others such as myself being doubting its authenticity. Today there’s been an important update in relation to the synopsis.

Before we continue with news of the day, I’d just like to share that you can now support my work in two ways. Firstly it’s via my newly created Patreon page which has a single tier at this time simply to support my work. Secondly you can tip me with a simple one off payment on my Ko-Fi page or you can choose to support my work monthly on the platform. I’d truly appreciate it if you decided to support my work, but no pressure, I know things are pretty tough out here. Anyway, back to the reason you came here – the news!

Yesterday a listing on Production Weekly pertaining to the untitled Star Wars film due to release in May of 2026 made waves across the internet. The listing itself featured a brief synopsis for the film being directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy that’s just under two years away from release and read as follows, “Set roughly 15 years after Rey’s victory over Palpatine and the end of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The sequel delves into Rey’s courageous endeavour to restore the Jedi order, where she assumes the role of mentor to two promising young students – a girl and a boy. As their training progresses, it becomes evident the girl posses extraordinary abilities, destined to emerge as a future leader.”

I covered the listing in an article I posted yesterday, noting that I believed the synopsis itself to not be official due to how it’s written and that it seemed to be a hodge podge of official information released publicly about the film along with past rumours and speculation. Now iO9 are reporting that they’ve spoken with a source close to Lucasfilm and that the synopsis shared by Production Weekly is “mostly” inaccurate as suspected.

iO9 report that most of what’s written in the synopsis is false, aside from the line of Rey rebuilding a Jedi order, something that Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and the films director, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy stated at Star Wars Celebration in April, they also mentioned that the film was set fifteen years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which is featured in the Production Weekly synopsis, but iO9’s source did not include that tidbit when offering up clarification to the outlet. iO9 adds that their source describes the rest of the synopsis as “general wording” and offered no clarification on the rumoured April 2024 start date for the production, which was first reported by credible industry insider and reporter, Jeff Sneider, last week. However the outlet did add that New Jedi Order is not the official name of the film, something I believe fans are already aware of, but have been using the name to differentiate the three untitled movies announced by Lucasfilm at Star Wars Celebration back in April.

Thank you for reading the article and if you enjoyed your read, or if you’re a regular reader of Bespin Bulletin then I kindly ask if you’d consider showing your support and appreciation by tipping me via my Ko-Fi page here, each tip is deeply appreciated or supporting my work via my newly launched Patreon page here.
