Star Wars Starfighter is shaping up to be the film we’ve been looking for. The film’s lead Ryan Gosling has dropped even more details and behind the scenes stories about his time shooting the movie.
During the press tour for the highly acclaimed feature Project Hail Mary, Gosling has been asked many times about Star Wars. The most common one is “what can you tell us about Star Wars?”
Well, whilst the actor can’t disclose many details as Lucasfilm and Disney would get upset, he is dripping little bits here and there. Just last week the actor revealed who was involved in a Lightsaber duel that Tom Cruise filmed. Now he’s gone on to praise the film’s director and give us info on another scene.
Energy Is Back
In a new interview with BBC Radio 1’s film critic Ali Plumb, Gosling can’t contain his admiration for Starfighter’s director Shawn Levy. He tells the interviewer “I just worked with Shawn Levy on Star Wars and I’ve never worked with a director that like that parallels his enthusiasm. [His energy] is off the charts.”
Making Changes To The Story

Plumb followed up by asking if Gosling could give some “massive scoops” to which the actor said he’ an open book. Plumb requested act 3 details then but Gosling could not give anything…until he did. The next question was about if Gosling had any momentos in this house that he is secretly wishing people would spot and you could talk about them. Starfighter’s leading man actually gave a Star Wars response; his full quote is below:
“There is a thing that happened on Star Wars. I going to have to tread carefully, but I went to the creature shop early to see all, everything that they were building so that I could find ways to interact with them in the film because I didn’t want them just to be going by in the background.
I found one very special one that was I think meant to be background and I asked if I could have a scene and it ended up being like a one of the most fun scenes I’ve ever done.”
Given how many great films Ryan has performed in, that is quite the statement. Last week, Gosling talked about how there will be practical puppets in the film and now we know he made a background creature a start for a scene. He went onto say that crew members made him a model of that creature as his wrap present. That is now the item he has in his house now. He told the BBC interviewer “if we weren’t being filmed I would tell you the story about about that because it was fun.”
Earlier last week week, Gosling shared his own personal Star Wars story and avoided confirming his use of a Lightsaber. Learn more here.
