According to a new exclusive report from MakingStarWars.net, Sabine Wren, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, will use Ezra Bridger’s green lightsaber from Star Wars: Rebels, the animated series that was broadcast on Disney XD. Fans of Rebels are well aware that Wren has had training with a lightsaber in the series, most specifically the Darksaber which is now in the possession of Din Djarin. Wren received training with the Darksaber from her Jedi friends, Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger, so it makes sense she’s more than capable of using the latter’s lightsaber in combat. It’s also worth mentioning as a reminder that Bridger left his lightsaber in the hands of his friend Sabine before he and Grand Admiral Thrawn’s fleet were taken to an unknown location via the Purgil jumping to lightspeed.

As we know from the end of Rebels and an episode of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren are on a quest to find their missing friend, Ezra Bridger, and the sinister Grand Admiral Thrawn. The duo are reportedly stuck in either a new galaxy or part of the galaxy viewers are familiar with, but have never seen on screen before. Bridger, who’s set to be played by Eman Esfandi in live-action, is without a weapon as he handed his trusted lightsaber to Sabine Wren, so how is he fending off threats in this unknown location? Well according to the report, Bridger will be using a form of martial arts mixed with the Force, not unlike Teras Kasi.

The report reveals that both Wren and Bridger are more than comfortable with their new fighting styles and it’s unclear if Bridger takes the lightsaber back from Sabine or not. Wren reportedly uses a lightsaber in many of the action sequences in the upcoming Ahsoka series, and Wren uses the green lightsaber in a fight against two villains of the series, Baylon (Ray Stevenson) and Shin (Ivanna Sakhno), alongside Ahsoka Tano, which is a visual treat.

Ezra Bridger will be seen using his new martial arts style techniques against undead Stormtroopers in the new galaxy, and at one point Bridger uses a Hadouken inspired move in the series. Hadouken is a move used in the video game series Street Fighter by various characters, but most notably Ryu. The move see’s the Street Fighter character thrusting their palms forward which releases an energy blast against their enemy.

Personally these details excite me, and from what I’ve heard regarding the Ahsoka series, fans are truly in for a treat and it is without question my most anticipated Star Wars project currently in development. Ahsoka is set to debut exclusively on Disney+ later this year, with Ahsoka Tano herself, Rosario Dawson, previously revealing the series will likely release this Fall.
