SDCC: Star Wars Ahsoka concept art and lightsabers revealed at San Diego Comic Con

SDCC is underway and Lucasfilm’s next release, Ahsoka, has a noticeable presence at the convention.

Before we continue with news of the day, I’d just like to share that you can now follow me on Threads here. Also, you can support my work in two ways. Firstly it’s via my newly created Patreon page which has a single tier at this time simply to support my work. Secondly you can tip me with a simple one off payment on my Ko-Fi page or you can choose to support my work monthly on the platform. I’d truly appreciate it if you decided to support my work, but no pressure, I know things are pretty tough out here. Anyway, back to the reason you came here – the news!

San Diego Comic Con is underway and Star Wars fans been flocking to the Ahsoka displays at the event. One of the attractions is props from the upcoming series, which includes the droid, Chopper, used in the series, but the props most interesting to me is seeing the lightsabers used by our heroes Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren, along with our villains, Baylan Skoll, Shin Hati and Marrok. One thing that’s noticeable is that Sabine’s lightsaber is that of her friend Ezra Bridger, who left the lightsaber to Wren during the series finale of Star Wars: Rebels, though it appears Sabine has made some significant changes to the laser sword, perhaps due to her training with Ahsoka Tano.

I’ve chosen to feature the images taken by iO9 and Germain Lussier who are attending the convention, as the snaps are of the best quality I’ve seen from the the displays.

In addition to the lightsabers from characters from the Ahsoka series being present at San Diego Comic Con, arguably the most interesting display is that of the concept art of the series. The concept art features locations we’ve seen in the trailers and various pieces of promotional material for the series, but gives up a better look at some of locations featured including the industrial planet we see Ahsoka take on Marrok, the forest location where Sabine Wren takes on Shin Hati for the second time, Jedi temple ruins, along with a look at Grand Admiral Thrawn’s prestigious quarters and some New Republic ships. The images featured below are via Streamr and Laughing Place. The art itself is created by Jama Jurabaev, Christian Alzmann, Matt Allsopp, Benjamin Last and Brett Northcutt.

Ahsoka is due to release exclusively on Disney+ August 23rd with a two episode premiere.

Being passionate about Star Wars led to the beginning of Bespin Bulletin in 2019. The goal was to create a publication for well-sourced information and add insights not found elsewhere for fans. So far, many exclusive stories have been published by Bespin. This has paved a long, reputable track record. Large outlets such as IGN have sourced the Bulletin's reporting.
