Filming on the upcoming Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu, is coming up fast and with production approaching, a sci-fi superstar is in talks to appearing in a galaxy far, far away.
According to a new report from from TheInseider, Sigourney Weaver, the three time Oscar nominee, is in talks to join The Mandalorian and Grogu. The Mandalorian series has had a tradition of hiring stars from the eighties such as Michael Biehn, who starred in Aliens alongside Weaver, Amy Sedaris, Christopher Lloyd and Carl Weathers. That tradition seems to be continuing with the next chapter of The Mandalorian’s story with its feature film.

Weaver is an icon of sci-fi and is without doubt best known for playing Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise. Weaver also starred in recognisable titles such as Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Holes, Avatar and Cabin in the Woods to name a small handful.
Weaver joining The Mandalorian and Grogu is a pleasant surprise and I’m glad an actress of her caliber has joined the Star Wars universe.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is being written by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. Favreau will also be handling directing duties. The flick is set to hit cinemas on May 22nd, 2026.
